What Is 1072nm Light Therapy? The Next Generation of At-Home LED

For years, at-home LED has largely centred around Red and Near-Infrared Light. These wavelengths have become established in cosmetic light therapy for their ability to support cellular energy, collagen activity and skin renewal. But the technology does not stop there.

1072nm Long-Wave Near-Infrared Light extends further into the infrared spectrum, allowing light to reach deeper into the skin than shorter visible wavelengths. It is this advancement that sits at the centre of our newest launch, the Advanced Pro LED Face Mask.

Our most advanced LED mask yet, the Advanced Pro LED Face Mask introduces industry-first 1072nm Long-Wave Near-Infrared Light alongside four additional wavelengths, creating a multi-wavelength system designed to target skin at different depths and address multiple visible concerns.

This technology was developed because different skin concerns require different light.

Why Does 1072nm Matter?

The colour of an LED is only one part of the technology. What matters scientifically is its wavelength, measured in nanometres or nm.

Different wavelengths interact with the skin differently. Shorter visible wavelengths tend to act more superficially, while longer Near-Infrared wavelengths can penetrate more deeply. At 1072nm, the light is completely invisible to the human eye, but continues to deliver energy beneath the skin's surface.

This makes 1072nm particularly relevant to advanced cosmetic light therapy, where the objective is to support the cellular processes associated with energy, collagen activity and renewal at greater depth.

For skin, that translates to targeting concerns that become more visible with age, including fine lines, wrinkles, uneven texture and loss of firmness.

What Happens Beneath The Surface?

Light therapy works through a process known as photobiomodulation. Specific wavelengths of light are absorbed within tissue and interact with cellular processes, including those associated with mitochondrial activity and ATP production.

ATP is essentially cellular energy. Skin cells rely on it to perform the processes involved in normal function and renewal. As skin ages, these processes become less efficient. Collagen production changes, cellular turnover slows and the structures responsible for firmness and smoothness gradually decline.

Red and Near-Infrared Light are used to support these processes without damaging or resurfacing the skin. 1072nm advances this approach through deeper infrared light delivery, extending beyond the wavelengths traditionally found in at-home LED masks.

It is not about creating heat or making the treatment more aggressive. It is about where the light is delivered and how the skin responds to that light over time.

LED is designed to be used consistently. Unlike treatments that resurface or intentionally injure the skin to trigger a response, photobiomodulation works by supporting cellular processes progressively over time. This is why regular use is central to an effective LED routine.

Why We Combine 5 Wavelengths

Deeper does not mean every other wavelength becomes redundant.

1072nm is an advancement in our LED technology, but different wavelengths continue to have different roles. The aim when developing the Advanced Pro LED Face Mask was therefore not to find one wavelength to do everything. It was to build a more complete spectrum of targeted light into one device.

The mask combines 415nm Blue, 590nm Yellow, 630nm Red, 850nm Near-Infrared and 1072nm Long-Wave Near-Infrared Light. Each was selected for a different purpose, from targeting breakouts and blemishes at the surface to supporting renewal, radiance, collagen activity and deeper skin processes.

This five-wavelength architecture allows the mask to address something that single-wavelength LED cannot: the fact that skin rarely has only one concern.

Breakouts can exist alongside fine lines. Dullness can appear alongside loss of firmness. Uneven texture can exist alongside blemishes. Skin changes, and what it needs from one day to the next can change with it.

630nm Red Light

REFINE MODE is designed for uneven texture, fine lines and skin renewal. 630nm Red Light supports cellular energy and collagen activity, helping improve the appearance of smoother, more refined and healthier-looking skin with consistent use.

Illuminate Mode

590nm Yellow + 630nm Red Light

ILLUMINATE MODE targets dullness, uneven-looking tone and loss of radiance. 590nm Yellow Light is paired with 630nm Red Light to support a brighter, more even-looking complexion while supporting the cellular processes associated with renewal.

Tighten Mode

630nm Red + 850nm Near-Infrared + 1072nm Long-Wave Near-Infrared Light

TIGHTEN MODE is our most advanced mode for fine lines, wrinkles and loss of firmness. It combines three wavelengths to deliver light at different depths, from 630nm Red Light for collagen activity and renewal to 850nm Near-Infrared and our deepest-reaching 1072nm Long-Wave Near-Infrared Light for deeper cellular support.

This is where the advancement of 1072nm becomes particularly relevant. Rather than replacing Red or Near-Infrared Light, it extends the wavelength range further, creating a more comprehensive, multi-depth approach to visible skin ageing.

Daily Mode

590nm Yellow + 630nm Red + 850nm Near-Infrared + 1072nm Long-Wave Near-Infrared Light

DAILY MODE brings together four wavelengths for overall skin maintenance, radiance, renewal and resilience. It is designed as the multi-target mode for skin that does not have one specific concern, combining visible and invisible wavelengths within one treatment to support skin at multiple depths.

For days when the answer to “What does my skin need?” is simply more of everything, this is the mode designed for it.

Clarify Mode

415nm Blue Light

CLARIFY MODE is the targeted mode for breakouts and blemishes. 415nm Blue Light acts closer to the skin's surface and is used to target acne-associated bacteria, helping support clearer-looking skin and reduce the appearance of active blemishes.

This gives the mask a completely different treatment capability from its ageing modes, allowing it to address breakouts without adding another device to your routine.

Evening Mode

590nm Yellow Light

EVENING MODE uses 590nm Yellow Light for dull, tired and uneven-looking skin. Designed as a gentler single-wavelength treatment, it supports a calmer, brighter and more even-looking complexion as part of an evening skincare routine.
